Dancers

Pedro Paz, originally from Veracruz, Mexico, moved to the United States in 2000. He started his formal salsa/mambo training in 2003 with Mambo Dinamico, but in his native Veracruz he was exposed to a Cumbia/Cuban style. This style is a mix of the Veracruz salsa dance style and the Cuban dance style (since there are many Cuban immigrants living in Veracruz).

While in Veracruz, he also learned other styles of dancing like "Danzon" (an old Cuban dance and rhythm, the first to mix European instruments with Afro-Cuban percussion). He has not had any other formal training, but his raw talent made his dancing develop quickly in classes. Betto and Joy have always been confident about Pedro's ability, and always try to challenge him to push himself to the fullest of his potential.

Pedro feels very comfortable as a member of Mambo Dinamico, since he says that the members are friendly and fun. The family-like relationships that the members have with each other make Pedro feel right at home, and make every moment together a memorable one. Another thing he notes is that each of Mambo Dinamico's members dances for enjoyment and love for the music, rather than just to show off.

Pedro also feels happy to have found his own style; he thanks Mambo Dinamico's teaching style for this. Betto and Joy make sure that their students truly learn to dance instead or mimicking or copying their instructor. Thanks to this, each member of the dance company has a distinct style, making his or her dancing unique. While social dancing they do not look like one another, but when they are on stage, they are perfectly synchronized. He feels this is what separates Mambo Dinamico from other companies.

Pedro wanted to become part of Mambo Dinamico ever since he saw them perform "Ban ban quere" at George's Garage during a "Triangle Fiesta" party in April 2004. Now that he is part of the dance company, he feels that this dream has come true, and that many doors have opened for him to learn more by performing, social dancing and taking classes.

Mambo Dinamico will be taking over many congresses or wherever else they go, according to Pedro, because of its talent and energy. He believes that, with a lot of dedication and discipline, it can become one of the best performance teams.
